Most of the catwalk shows will be held at central, prestigious locations, all easily accessible from one another. Shows and cultural events will take place at the Castello Sforzesco (Milan's medieval castle) as well as Palazzo Clerici, among other locales. A special collaboration with New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art will be announced on February 24 at the Palazzo Reale; details regarding The Costume Institute's spring exhibition of Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada will be revealed. A series of parallel cultural events, theater exhibitions and initiatives dedicated to the history of costume will also take place around the city. The inauguration of an exhibition dedicated to Leonardo Da Vinci - who designed costumes and textile machines - will be held at the Castello Sforzesco as a close to Fashion Week.

Mario Boselli, President of Camera Moda, expressed optimism for the results achieved by Italian fashion companies in 2011, showing a 5.5% increase in the year's sales. However, forecasts expect an approximate 5% decrease by the end of 2012. Boselli was also satisfied due to New York Fashion Week's decision not to alter their future event dates, which means Milan won't have to reduce the duration of its Fashion Week events.
