GEOX LAUNCHES AMPHIBIOX

Italian footwear company Geox is launching Amphibiox; a waterproof urban boot that was tested in the rainiest place of the world, Cherrapunjee, Northern India. The new boot is the protagonist of the newly revamped, interactive, amphibiox.geox.com website, which allows viewers to take a tour to the apocalyptic location while admiring the special footwear range.

Undertaking the spotlights, the unique performing qualities of its new generation of breathable and waterproof technology via four enthralling videos, filmed during the monsoon season in Cherrapunjee, creates an experience conducted by “real” people. The outstanding qualities of the AMPHIBIOX shoe collection have been immersed in the wildest and wettest nature.

Geox recruited four common people via its Facebook page including a Swiss photographer, a Venice tourist guide, a Spanish lawyer and an English snowboarder– who tested the new AMPHIBIOX shoe collection, pushing it to the limits. The collection was trialled by these four seasoned and adventurous travellers, with the understanding that the shoes could survive the exceptional circumstances in Cherrapunjee, where the annual rainfall is 11,000mm. These experts were selected for their technical knowledge and qualifications to assess footwear – with experience from their home cities.

Unlike traditional waterproof shoes which apply a membrane to a shoe’s sock-like inner lining, Geox applies the membrane directly to the inside of the upper shell, a novelty technique that grants unprecedented and total waterproof and breathability.
