Cotton USA sponsors book on the history of T-shirts
The new book “I Love T-Shirt” will be presented in Milan today, 28 January, 2014. In collaboration with Cotton USA, the publication was published by specialist Italian fashion magazine and publishing house Fashion Illustrated. Cotton USA identifies clothing made with at least 95% cotton and which contain at least 50 percent US-raised cotton.
The book presents the origins and the evolution of the T-shirt, the evergreen and iconic garment known to us for over a century now. From fashion to the movies, from sports to art and the travel world, this garment has proven versatility and been re-interpreted over and over again.
The publisher has already published a book dedicated to denim entitled “Denim, Una storia di cotone e di arte.” This new book written by Cristina Taccani retraces the origins and evolution of the T-shirt over the past century and analyzes all the social, media and fashion implications related to this garment and how it has evolved.
“A T-shirt cannot be simply defined according to its most different uses and functions – be it sporty, casual or comfy fit,” says Taccani. “Instead, it has always played a leading role. The T-shirt is both content and container, it allows there to be space for your imagination and always leaves room for messages to be conveyed quickly.”
The book will be presented at the Biblioteca della Moda, a specialized fashion book and magazine library at di Milano in Corso C. Colombo 9, Milan, starting at 6:00 PM. Copies can be purchased from www.libreriadellamoda.it and at Rizzoli bookshops for €10,00.
