COMING UP: AMSTERDAM'S MODEFABRIEK, JUL. 27-28Amsterdam’s fashion trade fair Modefabriek will celebrate its 25th edition this weekend. Beginning Sunday July 27, the two-day show, which was launched in 1996, is expected to offer, once again, a cool balance of well-established labels and talented newcomers.
Modefabriek began as a small-scale, creative platform but has since undergone tremendous growth, introducing new sections and a strong program of catwalk shows as well as the unique trend forum called “superstore” with cool brands and gadgets.
On the catwalk schedule this season are 10Feet, Inwear, LTB, Noa Noa, 525 and Miss Blackbirdy, and as in previous years, Modefabriek will provide a platform for internationally renowned, avant-garde designers. Designating the innovative “New Design Area” for Dutch and international designers this year, Modefabriek invited a whopping 25 top international designers instead of ten.
Following Terminal, which was launched the last time around, Modefabriek will also present a stylish, non-conformist event on the outdoor grounds of the RAI location. Admission to this park, which will be decorated in the spirit of summer, is free of charge. Twenty-five trendsetting designers will be on hand to display and sell their latest work.
The impressive list of denim and accessories brands exhibiting in the denim area called “better blues” includes 525, 10 Feet, Baby Phat, Bench, Björkvin, Blend, Blue Blood, Cast Iron, Chilli Pepper, Cimarron, Citizens of Humanity, Converse, Cross colorus, Double M, Edwin, Fred Perry, G-Star, Goi Goi, Golddigga, Goldsign, Gsus, Guess Jeans, Hells Bells, Hooch, Hub Ichi, Indian Rose, Jaggy, Japan Rags, K-Swiss, Kaporal 5, Kocca, Le Temps des Cerises, LTB, Mavi Jeans, Nat-2, Object, Panuu, Nümph, Paige, Pepe Jeans, Pieces, Psycho Cowboy, Punkyfish, Rare, Scotch & Soda, Take Two, Swear, Tretorn and Vintage 55.
The trendsetting new luxury area called “glam & glow” features brand hotties such as Baum und Pferdgarten, By Malene Birger, Designers Remix Collection, Lagerfeld, Lena Hoscheck, Selected Femme & Homme and White.
Finally, in the fashion section called “ultimate essentials,” brands such as Bensimon Collection, Cinque, Best Behavior, Deha, Dreams by Isabell Kristensen, European Culture, Gestuz, Guess by Marciano, Harlot, Hunter, Ikks, Jucca, Marco O’Polo, Marimekko, Moschino Uomo, Noa Noa, Odd Molly, Oilily and O.X.S will be on display.
