Amsterdam Denim Days announces first participants + events

Upcoming fashion event Amsterdam Denim Days has announced the first participating brands and event activities that will take place from 7-10 May, 2014. As a kick-off of the Amsterdam Denim Days, the denim trade show Kingpins will offer an industry-exclusive event to the international denim community for the first two days, happening for the first time in the Dutch capital. Right after Kingpins, the Blueprint event (9-10 May) will be held in the Ziveringshal venue on the grounds of Westergasfabriek, with spin-offs taking place in downtown Amsterdam. Blueprint is known as the denim platform of Amsterdam-based trade show Modefabriek. The Denim Days edition of Blueprint will for the first time not be open for professionals only, but the participating brands and initiaitves will be open to the public.

Among the activities and participants will be names such as G-Star Raw, Denham, Nudie Jeans or Pepe Jeans London.

G-Star will present a film about the Raw for the Oceans initiative. The first fabric samples of this innovative material will also be available at the show.

Denham will organize an exhibition called Better with Age: Denham x Butcher of Blue. It celebrates the beauty of how denim ages naturally. Founder Jason Denham will personally appear at the Amsterdam’s downtown Showcase Store, a brand manifestation and jeans repair shop in one.

In addition, the brand will be exhibiting artworks by British denim artist Denimu aka Ian Berry who will also working on a new piece live on location.

Moreover, Blueprint will host Nudie Jeans’ Recycle Your Jeans project and the ‘Indigo Roosters’ exhibition, curated by Miles Johnson, design director for Levi’s Vintage Clothing.

Other initiatives  at Blueprint will be organized by Amsterdams Blauw, HTNK, Woolmark, Orta or denim collector Antonio di Battista, amongst others. There will be a denim vintage market, a seminar on the future of the denim business and displays of the students of Amsterdam’s Jean School and the AMFI Denim Minor.
