ADIDAS: NEW MARKETING & SALES MANAGER FOR REEBOK’S CENTRAL MARKET
Adidas has announced that Elke Stein, currently Vice President Global Wholesale Solutions for adidas Group, will take over responsibility for marketing and sales at Reebok Market Central within adidas Group, becoming effective Sep. 1, 2011. In this role, she will succeed Thomas Vorndran who will switch into the newly created position as Head of Rockport Europe, becoming effective April 1, 2011. He will be overseeing the growing European Rockport business and the entire operations for the Rockport brand in Europe within adidas Group.
In order to maintain the progressive successful path for the Reebok brand, in her new position, Elke Stein will drive the marketing and sales functions of the Reebok business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Within the adidas Group’s structure, whereby both the adidas and the Reebok brand are managed under one roof within a market, Elke Stein will report directly to Günter Weigl, Managing Director Market Central. This enables adidas Group to continue to capitalize upon the synergies already established through running back-office functions in a joint operating mode, and to further build relationships with, and to better serve, the company’s customers from the combined strong advantage of both brands.
Thomas Vorndran joined adidas in 2002 as Key Account Director. He switched to Reebok in 2005. He and his team have been very successful in re-establishing Reebok in the important German-speaking markets, building strong brand momentum and achieving strong top-line growth over the past few years. Until September, Elke Stein and Thomas Vorndran will closely work together to ensure a smooth transition and, in the interim, Thomas Vorndran will continue to help oversee the Reebok business alongside his new responsibilities with Rockport.
The adidas Group is one of the global leaders within the sporting goods industry, offering a broad range of products around its core brands adidas, Reebok, TaylorMade, Rockport and Reebok-CCM Hockey. Headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Germany, the Group has more than 42,000 employees and generated a sales of €10.4 billion in 2009.
