Stella McCartney Grows Denim Line For Spring ‘14

Stella McCartney is amping up her denim range for next spring. While denim has always been a part of her eponymous label, the British designer is expanding the offer to 10 styles in 20 washes such as overdyed, faded and dégradé. The bottoms’ prints and colors will complement McCartney’s ready-to-wear collection and span from classic blue, white, black and gray to more springlike shades such as rose and lipstick. Graphics-driven models will include a tone-on-tone black leopard print and one with a black-and-white heart motif.

Silhouettes of the new jeans and shorts will include skinny, wide or boyfriend; rises will be mid, low or high.

The 100% Made in Italy denim group also includes jeans made from a new high recovery fabric that reduces stretching and shapes the wearer’s body. In addition, to reflect McCartney’s commitment to sustainability, eight styles will be made of 100% organic cotton and none will be treated with sandblasting.

The jeans will retail for $350 to $595 per pair. There will be three deliveries a year; the first will be in November 2013.

The Stella McCartney brand was founded in 2001. It is a 50/50 joint venture between the designer and Kering (formerly known as PPR). McCartney’s creations are sold in 25 standalone stores worldwide and at about 600 wholesale accounts.
