Camper collaborates with Doshi Levien

Camper presented its new collaboration with the British design duo Doshi Levien within Milan Design Week, inside three must-go destinations of the city: the Camper Store of Via Montenapoleone 6, in Corso Como 10 and in Galleria Rossana Orlandi. All three locations present and sell the three models “Twins by Doshi Levien”, a man's suede lace-up style and two women’s shoes – a flat sandal and a platform sandal - for the entire S/S 2013 season.

“We had already collaborated for John Lobb, a British shoe brand, according to a totally different bespoke made-to-order shoe project. We liked this other project because it is totally different and presents series-made products which conjugate technology, tradition and desire for comfort.” Hand-drawn lines that are then printed characterise and decorate these models. Silvery details (used in India for wrapping bon-bons) recall Doshi's childhood and also add a touch of glamour. Clean silhouettes that let the foot stand out also characterise each model. “All shoes, but especially the flat sandal, remind us of a bikini because it is simple and sexy, and lets the foot appear distinctly,” they explained. “We designed all three models as the pair you would wear every day...like a sort of uniform... like Indian kids wear every day.”

The duo had already collaborated for Camper in designing a store concept inaugurated in 2011 in Rome, Via dei Baullari 18, to be replicated in five stores altogether worldwide – four of which are already open in Vancouver, Boston and London - all inspired by the Mediterranean architecture “Aeternal Summer” attitude.
