PRATO TEXTILE MUSEUM ORGANIZES FASHION VINTAGE EXHIBITION
On December 7, 2012 the Textile Museum of Prato in Tuscany will open “Vintage. The Irresistible Charm of Past", an exhibition focused on the theme of Fashion Vintage, illustrating the evolution of one of the most popular trends in contemporary fashion.
The exhibit analyzes the vintage phenomenon since the middle Ages. It looks at altering dresses and fabrics to give them new life and a different function, including the exemplary case of the Italian town Prato, with the process of re-employing recycled wool and the subsequent increase of the second hand clothing warehouses, which impose themselves as true sanctuaries for military clothes and vintage denim.
The re-editing of icons of luxury brands (namely dresses and accessories), accompanied by the vintage passion that has plagued so many celebrities and media events, such as cult TV series and movies, has finally promoted this trend a real phenomenon. This confirms that contemporary fashion can express new trends while at the same time, increasingly play with the legacy of the past.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a full calendar of events dedicated to the vintage theme from December to May involving visitors and fans, as well as industry experts and fashion press, as well as bloggers and social media.
“Vintage. The Irresistible Charm of Past" is organized in collaboration with A.N.G.E.L.O. Vintage Palace.
