YOUNG FOOTWEAR BRANDS ENTER THE SPOTLIGHT AT GDS

From Sept.11-13 765 exhibitors from 31 countries will converge on GDS International Fair for Shoes & Accessories in Düsseldorf to showcase over 1,800 collections for the Spring/Summer 2010 season. In view of the general economic climate the 7% drop in exhibitors, or 50 exhibiting firms, is “very moderate,” says GDS Director Kirstin Deutelmoser. The development primarily concerns the mid-market segment. Yet strong premium and quality brands are continuing to focus on GDS. New collections, for instance, include brands such as Künzli, Tretron, Voile Blanche, Peak Performance, Go Green Rizzo and Tiggers Blue. The GDS lifestyle worlds have also been reorganized. The Trends Onstage show center will be located in Hall 2. Now representing the strongest section at GDS are young and trendy brands (+16 % on September 2008). The three urban areas with their varied lifestyle worlds of street fashion, urbanwear and denim brands will be based in Hall 3. This is also where Design Attack’s creative new collections will congregate. Meanwhile, the progressive brands in the White Cubes community will show together with Upper Style and Prime squared in Hall 4. High quality brands will be featured in the Superior segment in Hall 5, with Kid walk in Hall 7a and Shop & Deco and accessories in Hall 7.
