VISION Chooses Winner of Designers‘ Nest Show and Award

VISION has announced the winner of the 16th Designers’ Nest Show and Award as Daniel Kirk from the Kolding School of Design in Kolding, Denmark. Randi Kjær Pedersen from TEKO took second place while Johan Nordbjerg from the Swedish School of Textiles was the third runner up. Participants demonstrated their talent at the fashion fair in front of an audience of journalists and talent scouts from global magazines such as Sportswear International, Vogue, Elle, Glamour and the Nordic trade press.

The jury of international fashion professionals included Colin McDowell, chief fashion writer at the Sunday Times, and Mia Spon, designer and co-founder of the Danish label Spon Diago. The judges were enthusiastic about Kirk’s work, commenting: "The collection fulfilled all criteria with very thoughtful details, a strong coherency of concept and innovative work with fabrics. The theme of the modern superhero had more relevance than ever."

As first place winner, Kirk will take home a cash prize of DKK 50,000. All top three winners will be offered an exhibition space at VISION for the next two seasons and will be given an annual subscription to Sport & Street.

Each contestant was handpicked among the fashion design graduates from nine top Nordic design schools: Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture in Helsinki, Finland; Iceland Academy of the Arts in Reykjavik, Iceland; The Swedish School of Textiles in Borås, Sweden; Esmod OSL in Oslo, Norway; Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Oslo, Norway; The Royal Academy School of Design in Copenhagen, Denmark; Kolding School of Design in Kolding, Denmark; TEKO in Herning, Denmark and finally KEA in Copenhagen, Denmark.
