VERSACE FOR H&M COLLECTION FULL OF ICONS

Swedish retail giant H&M has presented the full outcome of its latest designer collaboration with Italian Designer Donatella Versace today. The collection, which will be available online and in around 300 stores worldwide from Nov. 17, 2011, is dominated by flamboyant color, fancy prints and tight-fitting cuts representing the quintessential Versace look unmistakably.

“For the collaboration we’ve brought back from the archives, as well as from mere recent collections, some of the icons of Versace such as the bright prints, the Greek key and daring cuts,” explains the luxury brand’s designer. Margareta van den Bosch, Creative Advisor at H&M, confirms this: “With this collection for H&M we’ve got the essence of Versace”.

The women collection’s central part are about 20 dresses which are supplemented by skirts, print leggings and jeans, tops, jackets and a range of accessories from scarves, bags and high heels to sparkling jewelry. Men can choose from suit jackets and trousers, tailored shirts, bombers, print t-shirts, shorts, boxers and complementary accessories like shoes, belts, caps and beanies. Leather plays a central role in both parts of the collection, just as metallic details such as golden rivets and zippers do. Retail prices range from about €20 for earrings, €100 for dresses and shoes up to €249 for a decorated leather dress.

For the first time in a designer collaboration at H&M, also home pieces including two pillows and a bedspread in multicolor floral prints are part of the Versace collection.

H&M currently runs the ‘Very Best of Versace for H&M’ competition on their web/facebook site where customers are invited to choose and arrange their favorite pieces of the collection in order to win a ‘Versace for H&M‘ scarf or three complete outfits.

By cooperating with H&M, Donatella Versace, who works as Creative Director at the Italian fashion house since 1997, follows the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Commes des Garçons (Rei Kawakubo), Jimmy Choo or Lanvin. Next to the main line, the designer has additionally designed a pre-spring collection for the Swedish enterprise which will exclusively be available in countries with H&M online sales from January 19, 2012.
