Uniqlo store to be opened in NYC in fall

UNDERCOVER X UNIQLOUniqlo Co. Ltd. and Undercover Co. Ltd. announced that they have signed an agreement to begin collaborating on designs for a new clothing line. The collaboration pieces are planned to be launched in s/s 2012, with the opening of a flagship store in Ginza, Tokyo.
Undercover was started in 1989 by designer Jun Takahashi, while he was still a student at Bunka Fashion College. In 1994, the brand appeared in the Tokyo Collection for the first time, achieving instant popularity. Undercover has been collaborating with Nike since last year October for the performance running collection ‘Gyakusou’.
Moreover, Uniqlo has just announced that they are going to terminate the collaboration line +J with Jil Sander after the 4th season. The project with Undercover will take over their collaboration collection with high fashion designers. Further details of the new project are soon to be announced.
As of the end of February 2011, Uniqlo Japan was operating 824 stores nationwide. At the end of fiscal year 2010, Uniqlo's global store network had grown to 136 stores with the first global flagship store opened in New York's Soho area in fall 2006. Since then, global flagship stores have opened in London, Paris, Shanghai, and Osaka's Shinsaibashi. Preparations are now underway to open another global flagship store on New York's Fifth Avenue in fall of 2011.
