Swiss pop-up June comes to Berlin
Later this month, Swiss concept store June will come to Berlin for a duration of six weeks. Location of the temporary pop-up shop is the recently opened concept mall Bikini in the centre of West Berlin. Here, the June shop will be hosted as part of Supernova, a tailor-made pop-up retail concept for Bikini developed by Berlin-based marketing agency Kemmler Kemmler.
June was founded in 2013 on occasion of Art Basel. It sells selected high fashion, accessories and beauty products as well as books and souveniers, all curated by the June initiators Rahel Morgan (editor) and Nora Erdle (stylist and fashion buyer) together with architect Efe Enreler. During its past Basel edition, June mainly hosted Swiss products, now at Supernova Berlin, there will be a mix of merchandise from Switzerland and Berlin. After its six weeks in Berlin, June’s next stop will be Art Basel Miami.
Supernova is meant to provide space for retail experiments and to mix and mingle different products as well as traditional 'offline' retailing of brick and mortar with digital devices and the online world. "Just like a real supernova we intend to mix all kinds of elements, let them explode and then see what comes out,“, said Katharina Kemmler, co-founder of Kemmler Kemmler.
The premiere of Supernova happened in April when the pop-up space presented a retail collaboration between Nike and Berlin street fashion store Firmament that focuses on football and therefore showed a whole lifestyle scenario around the football world including a kicker platform for in-store contests. Screens sponsored by Samsung screened customers that could take selfies and share them on social media.
