Show Preview Pitti Immagine: Part I - ready for kick off

Pitti Immagine Uomo and Florence are getting ready for their 85th edition, taking place from 7 - 10 January 2014 in Fortezza da Basso, Florence. This edition’s main inspiration is “Rock me Pitti”. The event will feature events and decor inspired by the coolest rock music iconography and imagery and will present some of the world’s finest manufactures for special projects and collections for F/W 2014/2015.

A new section debuting for this edition is “The Latest Fashion Buzz”, which will include a selection of designers from the Ukraine, the guest nation for this edition.

Fashion buzz
The new section “The Latest Fashion Buzz” will present 11 talented and promising international menswear fashion designers. A selection from their collections will be presented inside the Fortezza Sala Ottagonale and will reflect the project’s dual spirit to present new formal and edgy informal apparel collections. This first edition will present ACF (Avec Ces Frères) (Great Britain), CB Made in Italy (Italy), Kenneth Field (Japan), Munsoo Kwon (South Korea), Rumisu (Turkey), Six Lee (Belgium), W-D Man (Italy), Andrea Cammarosano (Italy), IOU Project (Spain), Tigran (Russia), and Vidur (Great Britain).

Ukraine on show
In cooperation with Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days, the Guest Nation of this edition of Pitti Uomo and Pitti W will be Ukraine, a country that has recently distinguished itself for some interesting – and quickly growing – fashion research brands. Many up-and-coming Ukrainian designers have caught the attention of insiders in the world’s fashion capitals. For this reason, Pitti W, to be held at the Arena Strozzi, will showcase upcoming designers such as Anna K, Anna October, Ksenia Schnayder, Omelya Atelier, Paskal, Sasha Kanevski and Yasya Minochkina.

Daria Shapovalova, creative director of Mercedez-Benz Kiev Fashion Days, video director of Nowfashion and the ambassador of Style.com in Ukraine will curate the project. Shapovalova also selected the participating designers. “I am firmly convinced that this is the right time to present the Kiev Fashion Days designers at Pitti and to offer them more international visibility. After having staged projects in London and Paris, it is the right time for Florence, the place where the world’s top buyers and the best creative minds in the fashion scene always choose to meet.”

Hot news from the Fortezza
I Play, the sport-focused section hosted inside the Cavaniglia Pavilion is celebrating its third edition.
