REEBOK HONORS BASQUIAT
Reebok is releasing its second Affili’Art collection featuring the works of African-American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. Reebok released its first collection with Basquiat last winter. The art of Basquiat, who died at the age of 27 and would be 50 this year, provides the inspiration for the collection with its graffiti prints and strong symbolism.
The collection comprises T-Shirts, jackets and sneakers and will be sold in selected shops. In conjunction with his 50th birthday, the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen near Basel, Switzerland will show a retrospective of Basquiat’s works featuring 135 pieces from May 9 to September 5. During the exhibition, the collection will also be available in the museum shop. To date, Reebok’s Affili’Art series has fused artwork from the likes of John Maeda and Rolland Berry with Reebok Classics.
