New York Men’s Market Preview


Four days, seven shows… New York’s hectic men’s market starts on Sunday. Here, in alphabetical order, is a brief guide of what is happening when. Stay tuned for our coverage from Manhattan next week!

AGENDA
The street, skate and action sports show will have a new home, The Javits Center North (655 W. 34th Street), for its two-day run on Monday and Tuesday. Agenda will have approximately 250 brands including Vision Street Wear, Fila, The Hundreds and Vans. Show hours are 9am to 6pm on both days and pre-registration is required to attend.

CAPSULE
Capsule’s biannual New York Men’s gathering returns to Basketball City (299 South Street at Montgomery Street) on Monday and Tuesday. Show hours are 10am to 7pm on Monday and 10am to 6pm on Tuesday. New brands showing include Atelier L’armee, Korean brand Entrofe, Finnish brand Frenn and Japanese footwear brand Suicoke while “usual suspects” such as Naked & Famous, Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen and Clae will also be there. The Capsule party will take place on a yacht that sets sail from the riverside venue at 8:15pm on Monday.

KINGPINS
Officially marking its 10th anniversary with its latest edition, the invite-only premium denim sourcing show Kingpins will take place Tuesday and Wednesday at Skylight Clarkson Square (550 Washington Street). The show runs 10am to 6pm on Tuesday and 10am to 5pm on Wednesday. Its more than 60 exhibitors include ADL – Arvind Denim Lab, Cone Denim, Kurabo and Lenzig. There will be a party onsite from 6pm to 11pm on Tuesday.

LIBERTY
This time Liberty Fairs will boast more than 100 new brands to its roster and a new venue, Pier 94 (711 12th Ave). The show runs Sunday and Monday from 10am to 7pm and Tuesday from 10am to 3pm. Newcomers to the show include Canadian sneakers and accessories brand Sully Wong and luxury urban sportswear line EFM by Donrad Duncan. Special sections are Freedom Hall curated by Ouigi Theodore and The Drugstore curated by David Pirrotta. A bowling event called the Liberty Lebowski Classic takes place Sunday night starting at 7:30 at Lucky Strike (624-660 W. 42nd Street).

MAN
This intimate, boutique show with a Eurocentric bent will take place again at Industria (775 Washington Street). The three-day show runs Monday through Wednesday from 10am to 7pm each day. With approximately 50 exhibitors, MAN will feature such names as Hope, Our Legacy, Won Hundred and YMC. Also on hand will be US newcomer Ddugoff, who showed a very promising debut collection last season.

MRKET
A reconfigured layout will debut at MRket, which runs at the Javits Center Sunday and Monday from 9am to 6pm and Tuesday from 9am to 4pm. The show will once again feature a Made in Italy section, a UK Design area and an enlarged Vanguards Gallery of emerging brands. Brand new to the show will be a pop-up shop by BKLYN Dry Goods.

PROJECT
Project is being held at the Javits Center, too. It runs Sunday through Tuesday. Shows-within-the-show there are The Tents @ Project (upper streetwear and designerwear), ProjectSole (shoes) and for the first time in years, a NYC version of Pooltradeshow, the area for emerging and creative young brands. Fellow Barber will provide free haircuts and shaves and fashion illustrator Richard Haines will be onsite showcasing original artwork he created especially for the show.
