MBFW ANNOUNCES NEW LOCATIONNow it’s finally official: The 9th edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin (July 6-9, 2011) will present the s/s 2012 collections in a tent on “Strasse des 17. Juni”, with its main entrance facing the city’s most famous landmark: The Brandenburg Gate. After several months of searching for the perfect spot in Berlin, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion, Peter Levy, says: “We are thrilled to confirm this very prestigious location for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.” Furthermore, he states: “The return to Brandenburg Gate and the opportunity for growth is a great next step for fashion in Berlin. The support of the city of Berlin in providing such a premier location shows that creativity and fashion as a cultural artefact play a big role for the German capital.”
But the announcement of the new location is not the only news: For the first time, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin imposes, in addition to the already well-known catwalk venues, a presentation space called the “Studio”, where designers are able to present their collections in their own and innovative setting without being bound to a classic catwalk. This gives the professional audience the possibility to get a closer look on the used material and other details of the collection.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin’s very first edition in 2007 was held close to the Brandenburg Gate as well and was later transferred to Bebelplatz, next to Berlin’s Humboldt University.
