Levi’s launches skateboarding collection

For S/S 2014 Levi’s has just launched its Levi’s Skateboarding Spring 2014 collection. Despite skateboarders have been wearing Levi’s jeans since this sport has been born in the 1980s, it was only recently that the Levi’s design team has taken an American classic – the sweatpant - and adapted it in order to make it become any skateboarder’s perfect companion – even the most reckless.

Inspired by the lines of a military work pant, the Levi’s Skateboarding Spring ’14 Heavy Jersey sweatpant has a wide elastic waistband, buttoned back pockets, large front pockets with a drawstring waist and leg openings. The hand feel and weight mean these sweatpants can be worn in any moment - both on and off the board.

When spring really starts to heat up, the collection has got a knee skimming short version of the quintessential sweatpant. Boasting the same heavy jersey cotton with buttoned back pockets and wide waistband, these shorts were inspired by military type work shorts worn by the Marines.

Also part of the selection is the Workpant model, the classic workwear inspired chino, redesigned and made out of a highly functional and resistant blend of cotton, Cordura and T400 Lycra. It carries reinforced stitching at common blow-out points and pocket bags that have been specifically designed to keep things inside pockets. The Maker Shirt is also inspired by workwear classics and completed by triple needle stitching, reinforced elbow patches and a pencil pocket. A Reversible Puff Vest made out of water-repellent rip-stop nylon completes the collection.
