LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S 10 PREVIEWThe upcoming edition of London Fashion Week, Sept. 18-22, is a promising affair that coincides with the event’s 25th anniverary. As previously reported on Sportswearnet.com, the catwalk schedule for the s/s 10 edition is studded with many new, high-profile names. Sass & Bide is the latest label to confirm it will show its s/s 10 collection on the LFW catwalk, joining the likes of Burberry Prorsum, Clements Ribiero, Pringle and Matthew Willamson.
Aside from the strong womenswear offer, LFW is putting more emphasis on the menswear segment this season. To support up-and-coming menswear talent, The British Fashion Council recently launched a new initiative, NewGen Men. A sister act to the already established NewGen sponsorship, the scheme sets out to provide young designers with catwalk and/or exhibition showcase funding courtesy of Topman.
"Over the past couple of years, the stream of talent in menswear that has been coming out of London has turned into a torrent. The arrival of NewGen Men puts in place a support system to nurture this spontaneous outpouring of creativity for the future,” said Sarah Mower, the British Fashion Council’s Ambassador of Emerging Talent.
First out to receive the NewGen Men sponsorships are Carolyn Massey and James Long, who will both show their collections during LFW’s menswear day, Wednesday Sept. 23.
