House of Vans to open soon in London
On 9 August, footwear and apparel brand Vans is going to open House of Vans London, a multifunctional space located in the Old Vic Tunnels, underneath the Waterloo Station, with a music venue, gallery, artist labs, café, cinema, bars and an indoor skate park. This concept, already implemented in Brooklyn (New York), aims to support creativity, diversity and opportunity for everyone. “The House of Vans London is the physical manifestation of the cultures and creativity at the heart of the Vans brand […] We’re looking forward to building on this legacy, working closely with the local communities and key stakeholders involved in the project.” said Jeremy de Maillard, VP of marketing.
Four studios within the venue will be provided free of charge for both emerging and established artists, who can exhibit in the space at the end of the tenancy. Moreover, an 850 person capacity gig space will hold live streamed events and crowd-sources event curation through free ticketing.
House of Vans London will be open five days a week to locals and visitors. The House of Vans London project is affiliated with three charity partners: Old Vic New Voices, Railway Children and Action for Children.
