GRADUATE FASHION WEEK GOLD AWARD WINNER ANNOUNCED
Bath Spa University’s Chloe Jones celebrated its annual Graduate Fashion Week Gold Award with Daphne Guinness, Suzy Menkes and Fiona Lambert (brand director of George) on board to judge and award the £20,000 prize.The jury’s criteria focused on choosing a designer who displayed exceptional ability in design, cut and construction as well as excellent use of color and fabric. An intensive interview process accompanied seventeen catwalk shows leading up to the big decision.
This year’s competition featured designers working in all realms of fashion from over 39 universities across Europe and the UK. Apart from Jones’ win, ten finalists will be granted support from the Graduate Fashion Week Mentoring Panel. Other awards were presented as follows:
Womenswear Award – Chloe Jones, Bath Spa University
Menswear Award – Riona Horrox, Edinburgh College of Art
Zandra Rhodes Catwalk Textile Award – Xiaoping (Fiona) Huang, UCLAN University
Stuart Peters Visionary Knitwear Award – Jousianne Prop, Manchester School of Art & Caitlin Charles Jones, Kingston University
International Award – Karen Jessen, Esmod Berlin
Fashion Innovation Award – Ami Collins, UCLAN University
David Band Textiles Award – Emma Hardstaff, Edinburgh College of Art
Ethical Award – Sarah Murphy, Northumbria University
Per Aquum Marketing Award – Hayley Oldfield, UCLAN University
Karen Millen Fashion Portfolio Award – Jouisanne Propp, Manchester School of Art
Mulberry Accessories Award – Laura Smallwood, Kingston University
Barclays New Business Idea Award – Holly Reid, UCLAN University
Stand Award – Edinburgh College of Art
Media & Design Award – Kerrie Donelly, UCLAN University
