GDS: New fair concept to debut with over 900 brands


The time has finally come: GDS, global destination for shoes & accessories, will debut with its new concept from 30 July to 1 August - and therefore earlier than ever. More than 900 brands will present their spring/summer 2015 collections at the footwear trade show. Meanwhile, the season kick off event is not just targeting the shoe sector: In addition to the B2B events at the Exhibition Centre, GDS will organise the city-wide “Out of the Box” festival with over 100 events revolving around shoes and accessories. Horst Werner M. Dornscheid, president and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf: “I'm thrilled that GDS, together with a number of committed exhibitors and retailers, will communicate the shoes & accessories theme so powerful, carrying it across Düsseldorf.

For the first time, the fair will be divided into the three major segments Studio, Highstreet and Pop up. Each world creates its own cosmos with a matching design and a fitting ambiance. “Highstreet” is the home base for the greatest diversity of brands, from contemporary to athletic and traditional including brands such as Gant Footwear, Giesswein, Jack Wolfskin, Lacoste, Marc O'Polo, Naturalizer, Napapijri Footwear, Bull & Hunt and Hüftgold. In “Pop Up - The urban groove” visitors will find streetwear and young innovative collections such as AS98, Dr. Martens, Espadrij L'originale and G-Star Raw Footwear. “Studio” will offer a showspace for up-market brands such as Floris van Bommel, Moma, Pura Lopez and See by Chloé.

Amongst the newcomers are names such as Barbour Footwear, Blauer, Kennel & Schmenger, Patrizia Pepe, Porsche Design and Anthony Miles. Within each of the three theme worlds, guidance will be provided to visitors by the so-called “Highlight Route”, a defined path leading to particularly relevant and exciting spots, focussing on trends. In the Studio fashion show “Belles Rebelles” GDS will be spotlighting premium collections. Kirstin Deutelmoser, Director of GDS: “The new earlier date enables us to deliver relevant information to retailers at exactly the right time.”

Another hot spot will be the Hippie Mercado – vintage market – between hall 1 and 4 where 66 labels will showcase their collections in a 70s and 80s ambiance inspired by the traditional Ibiza market Las Dalias.

For the first time GDS will be targeting fashion bloggers. On Friday, 1 August, the blogger café “shoeedition” will take place in cooperation with online magazine Styleranking. Five bloggers will be creating their own trend collections for the catwalk.

The new private labelling concept tag it! by gds, a parallel featuring more than 370 exhibitors, will get off already on July 29.
