G-STAR LAUNCHES NEW 3D DENIM DESIGNWithin its spring/summer 2012 collection, Dutch denim label G-Star presents a new three-dimensional jeans model. The “Dimension 5620” features a progressive cut, supporting the wearer’s movements in five directions by providing extra volume in five different areas, namely the knees and knee bends, calves, seat and back pockets.
For creating this effect, G-Star makes use of a certain innovative technique as Head of Design, Pierre Morisset, explains: “The 3D shape of the “Dimension 5620” is generated by stretching and shrinking the seams. Every pair of jeans is tried on by a model before it is dried in an oven and therefore permanently turned into a 3D product which adapts every curve of the human body. By combining various different shaping processes, we are taking a big step towards architectural denim design where every detail fulfils a certain function.”
The new jeans model was inspired by the motorbike clothing of the 1920s and ‘30s and follows previous three-dimensionally constructed denim designs from the 12-year-long history of the label such as the “Elwood” pants.
G-Star’s new collection is going to be launched in the middle of November 2011. The “Dimension 5620” line consists of both male and female styles in different washings and colors, some of them are equipped with suspenders.
