Flip Flop cuts down leather footwear and apparel


For the next summer season, German footwear and fashion brand Flip Flop plans to concentrate again on its core product: the Flip Flop sandal. After its debut in 1989 with a colorful palette of Flip Flop shoes, the brand expanded its line and added leather shoes, accessories and apparel to its portfolio. Three stores were opened, one in Berlin, two in Cologne. Now, Flip Flop will reduce apparel and leather footwear to concentrate only on the sandal, with added styles featuring an EVA sole, new micro-themes and new colors.

Anne-Katrin Hummel, CEO and creative director: "We focus more on our core business and thus strengthen the collection for trade, and respond to the demand of dealers to develop more in the EVA area.”

Leather shoes/sandals will be cut down to solely be sold in the own stores. Clothing has been skipped for spring/summer 2015, too, with the exception of some Flip Flop classics that are planned to be sold in the own stores. Hummel: “All decisions are consciously taken to strengthen cooperation with partners from trade and to sharpen the brand."
