Fashion and Textile Museum Presents Fashion Films
To celebrate London Fashion Week, the Fashion and Textile Museum has put together a cinematic program showcasing the role of film in promoting 21st century fashion. The series will take place from September 14-22 and features a variety of works – promotional, feature, documentary, animation, shorts and showreels – from a range of emerging and established British designers including Zandra Rhodes, Ada Zanditon, phannatiq, Beautiful Soul, Julia Burness, Xsenia & Olya, Basharatyan V, David Longshaw and others. With labels and brands incorporating more and more film as a means to showcase their collections, the program comes at the perfect time. The Museum’s Dennis Nothdruft, who is responsible for curating the series, commented: “The new films created by designers and filmmakers allow for yet another layer of interpretation and exploration around clothing and fashion. Incredibly creative and evocative examples will be on display.”
Films will be screened daily in the Museum foyer alongside the current exhibition, Pop! Design Culture Fashion, which runs through October 27.
