Designers of Kitsuné new art directors for Petit Bateau

French childrenswear specialist Petit Bateau have hired the duo behind the Parisian in-label Kitsuné as art directors for its new adult collection. Masaya Kuroki and Gildas Loaëc both have experience collaborating with Petit Bateau on capsule collections in 2009 and Spring 2013. The new adult collection will be their first complete collection and will be available next Winter 2013/14. The contract with the two designers is scheduled for three years.

Masaya Kuroki and Gildas Loaëc showed in the preview last week a redefined and modernized collection for the brand, which celebrates its 120th birthday this year. The adult collection contains approximately two-dozen pieces each for men and women, plus a small underwear collection. For the collection the designers have slightly modernized and pepped up the brand’s classic items such as its sailor shirt, duffle coat and yellow raincoat, with a focus on details.

Gildas Loaëc: “The universe of Petit Bateau is quite similar to our universe at Kitsuné. But Petit Bateau is known as a brand for childrenswear. Our intention is to emancipate the adult collection as a real part of the brand.”
