DESIGNER FOR TOMORROW: MARC JACOBS TO BECOME PATRONPeek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf announced that New York-based designer Marc Jacobs will support and attend the company’s "Designer for Tomorrow" award as the patron of the competition that boosts young upcoming design talents. Marc Jacobs will come to Berlin, in order to have a look at the five finalist collections and to assist them as a mentor. This July, within Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin, Marc Jacobs will elect together with a top-class jury of experts the winner of the Designer for Tomorrow contest 2011.
The award “Designer for Tomorrow by Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf” aims at providing young talents with a platform for their ideas and designs. Creative young designers who have either completed their studies within the last two years or can provide proof of training in fashion design and who do not have their own collection yet, can apply to take part each year. In addition to an individual program of promotion, the winner can expect a prize money and the unique opportunity to have their own fashion show in Berlin the following January.
The winner of the young talent award 2010 was Parsival Cserer from Berlin with his collection “Good Morning Mrs. Obama” and he staged his own fashion show at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in January 2011.
