BEST OF BRITANNIA: THE LAUNCH

A new business concept is launching this year: Best of Britannia (BOB) is scheduled for October 5-7 and set to showcase iconic and emerging British companies working in the UK today, thus attempting to revive the British economy and emphasize manufacturing Made in Britain. After the excitement of London's Olympics and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, BOB will explore what's next for the United Kingdom.

A wide array of British lifestyle brands, from boat building to footwear and food and beverage to race cars, will be presented at London's Farmiloe Building at this year's exhibition. Companies already on the bill include BAC Mono (manufacturers of Mono sports cars), Pashley Cycles (Britain's longest established bicycle manufacturer), Hiut Denim (a newcomer from Wales who are singlehandedly revitalizing the denim industry in the town of Cardigan) and Mark Powell Bespoke Tailoring (the legendary Soho-based tailor who has dressed everyone from George Clooney to Mick Jagger). Mark Powell commented, "BOB will show the very best in British industry and its ethos is exactly what I'm about.” Furthermore, multi-platinum and award-winning songwriter Guy Chambers will organize the Best of British music stage, which will provide live entertainment for each night of the fair and predict the biggest stars of 2013. Other special events include an indoor pop-up cinema celebrating British film-making.

The event will open with an exclusive preview day to international trade buyers and retailers, followed by two days of selling directly to the public. It will facilitate networking among like-minded companies and sales to those who have a sincere interest in British products. BOB curator Antony Wallis, who has previously developed highly successful trade and consumer exhibitions as well as run two communication and design agencies, said: "I believe that a product’s provenance is of the utmost importance. By buying authentic British bikes, cars, furniture, clothing and accessories, produced by skilled craftsmen using the finest materials, we are helping to keep these skills alive – let quality enjoy a revival!"
