AT ISPO, A MESSAGE OF SAFETY AND GOING GREEN

The 69th edition of ispo winter, from Feb. 1-4, came to a close in Munich yesterday, with about 1,950 exhibitors from 50 countries and more than 60,000 visitors from more than 100 countries.

Overall, the show registered approximately 4,000 fewer attendees than last year, but in comparison to the sports shows in other countries maintained a stable and relaxed environment. Due to the good winter conditions in Europe this season, exhibitors and visitors were also not too concerned with the current economic crisis.

Personal safety and ecologically-friendly products were among the most discussed topics at the show. Helmets for skiing and snowboarding, particularly in the German market, reached a new pitch, as well as all other types of protection gear.

Ecologically-friendly products were again offered by numerous brands, either with ecologically natural materials such as organic cotton or wool or ecologically-produced synthetic fibers. One brand that earned much respect from the sports industry was Zimtstern, from Switzerland, for its ecologically-friendly technical line produced in collaboration with Blue Sign Standard.

Ispo also debuted the technical winter collections from the sportswear brands Bench and Jack & Jones. As well, the Swedish brand Peak Performance unveiled its new logo at the show. And for the first time for years, Quiksilver was not present at the fair.

In snow sports apparel, yellows and bordeaux were amongst the biggest trends, as well as checks and all kinds of down jackets.

The next ispo winter edition will from Feb. 7-10, 2010.
