Losers teamed up with Jason Markk in LA

Japanese footwear label Losers has collaborated with Los Angeles based manufacturer of premium shoe cleaning products Jason Markk at the “Losers x Jason Markk - TOKYO TO LA” event, which was held in Garden, Los Angeles on Thursday 15 August.

Born in 2011 and raised in Japan, Losers is beginning to achieve international success. Founder and head designer, Motoki Takenaka, also known as Sneakerwolf has built the brand's philosophy on "iki", a concept of beauty & perseverance unique to 18th century Japan from the Edo period of Japanese history (17th-19th Century). This was a time when noble members of society imposed restrictions on common people to prevent them from wearing bright and flamboyant colours – anything associated with decadence.

The collection incorporates premium grade Japanese textiles across a number of classic Losers silhouettes. Standout models from the F/W13 collection include the Transporter Cyber Tweed, which juxtaposes traditional Harris Tweed with a "cyber theme", which brings to mind the intensity of the streets of Tokyo, the Schooler Mid Shark 3.5 which utilises corduroy and has an embroidered Shark theme in a navy and beige colourway, and a dual tone Schooler Lo which is neon pink and grey.

Unlike most sneakers which have their logo on the side of the shoe, Losers’ trademark is the V-shaped design on the toe. This symbolizes the toe strap on traditional Japanese footwear; Geta, Zori and Waraji.
