Glamloop: new designer second-hand store onlineLast week Glamloop.com launched its website. The new high-end, second-hand, online fashion shop offers a wide range of designer clothing, shoes and accessories from brands such as Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Fendi, J Brand, Givenchy, Kenzo, Louis Vuitton and Roberto Cavalli. There are currently over 300 brands in the shop and new brands are being introduced every day. More than 1000 items are presently available, and another 1000 products are in stock. The concept of Glamloop is that users can buy and sell designer items. Each product is reviewed by fashion experts at Glamloop.com for authenticity and quality before going online.
Sellers can decide whether to use the all-round service or self service. The Glamloop all-round option includes a fashion consultant that helps the customer to select and set up a price for the product. The personal pick-up-service starts in general from three items. The fashion consultant is also in charge of the product presentation (text and pictures) in the online store, as well as the shipping concerns. After a successful sale the customer gets the money from Glamloop. Product placement in the online shop is free. Based on sale value Glamloop takes different commissions: e.g. 15 Euro fixed price for every item up to 30 Euro, 35% for every item between 31 to 100 Euro or 30% for items between 101 and 600 Euro. If a customer chooses the all-round service then commission fees will account for 50% of the sales value. At the moment the offers on the website are only available for clients in Germany. Plans to expand consists for the future.
Ten assistants currently work for Glamloop and the company is looking for additional staff. Glamloop is also working with a big partner network of fashion consultants that are always on the look out for new products for the online shop. Behind the idea of Glamloop are the founders Kiana Mardi and Alexandra Podeanu. “We didn’t want to sell our favourite items somewhere impersonal. Many women just want a breath of fresh air in their closet, but can’t find the right place to sell their high-end designer clothing at the right platform,” says Podeanu. Mardi: “Glamloop joins here by offering a premium online website, with easy tools to sell and buy.” Both founders have a lot of experience in the online fashion business and have held management positions at Zalando, Groupon and Glossybox.
