Capsule Las Vegas
22 Aug. 2013
Show report: Capsule Las VegasThe “juried destination for the progressive designer market” show Capsule returned to Vegas on Monday for a two-day run with an especially strong line-up. Held at a new venue, a fifth floor ballroom at The Venetian hotel, the show had slow but steady traffic in its initial hours.
Familiar faces at Capsule included Naked & Famous Denim, Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen (which showed some spectacular floral-print suits) and Mark McNairy New Amsterdam, which showed camouflage items with cute embroidered rubber ducks.
California-based shirting brand Frank & Eileen (named after its founder’s Irish-American immigrant grandparents) wowed with a special four-part denim shirt collection that featured a wash from each decade from the ‘60s to the ‘90s.
Also on hand was Cwst, the menswear brand formerly known as Riviera Club, which has lost none of its casual-chic-surf panache despite its name change. Brand founder Derek Buse explained that trademark issues forced the brand to retitle. And despite its new moniker (and to paraphrase Shakespeare), the collection still “smells as sweet” (i.e., looks great).
