Boxpark Starts up in AmsterdamBoxpark London has produced some of the most interesting retail projects of the last year and now spreads its wings to Amsterdam. Founder and CEO Roger Wade is currently looking for suitable retailers to fill the new container mall, set to open in an old ship yard next summer (2013).
Launched on a temporarily available urban space in London’s Shoreditch in 2011, Boxpark was meant to be the world’s first pop-up mall. Constructed with flexible shipping containers, the project’s aim was to create a unique, low-cost, low-risk retail space. With entertainment as important to Wade as retail, Boxpark became more of a meeting point than simply a mall and was filled with a unique mix of international fashion and lifestyle brands as well as galleries and cafés.
