LEE COOPER OPENS FIRST STAND ALONE STORE IN JAPAN

British denim brand Lee Cooper opened its first Japanese stand alone store in Tokyo’s Setagaya-ku district last week. The store shall be the first of many to be opened over the next year. Further plans include the opening of another store in Japan’s second largest city, Yokohama, before the year-end.

Throughout the atmosphere of the new shop, Lee Cooper wants to render their consumers a feel for the brand’s strong British heritage. Therefore, many of the store decorations have been shipped over from London’s East End.
By carrying out own retail, Lee Cooper adds to the distribution of its brand in Japan. Up to now, the collection had only been distributed by their Japanese retail partner Mac House, which runs over 370 stores in the country.

Lee Cooper is now sold in over 88 countries through a network of over 45 licensees. The company’s licensing partner for Japan is the Smikin Bussan Corporation, which held a kick-off press meeting in Tokyo last week that was attended by over forty TV and film crews, press, bloggers, celebrities, in addition to the senior management from Lee Cooper’s London Office.
