Vente-privee.com: summer stimulates mobile shoppingFollowing an announcement from online flash sales platform Vente-privee, summer time has encouraged European customers to conduct up to 40% more purchases through mobile shopping.
In August 2012, Vente-privee registered 40% more mobile-delivered orders compared to the previous year and on August 15, 2012; a record number of 39% of the platform’s total sales were generated by mobile applications. In general, the French online shopping format is a pioneer in mobile applications, currently obtaining 30% of its turnover by smartphone and tablet apps. Since the launch of the first iPhone-app from mid-2010 the application has been downloaded 3.5 million times. Every day, Vente-privee registers one million visits via apps, which is 40% of the total visits.
In Germany, 35% of the vente-privee.com customers use mobile apps to shop. This is significantly higher than their European neighbours in France, Spain, Italy, Austria and the Netherlands.
The vente-privee.com business model involves limited stocks of brand name products, with time-limited sales of 3 – 5 days. The model matches the mobile channels sales flexibility very well.
