TOMMY HILFIGER TO ACQUIRE JAPAN LICENSEEThe Tommy Hilfiger Group (tommy.com) has taken steps to acquire the majority control of Tommy Hilfiger Japan Corporation (THJC). THJC is currently owned by Itochu Corporation and was established in 1996 as the exclusive licensee of Tommy Hilfiger-branded products in Japan.
THJC has a total of 105 retail stores and 60 department store concessions. In the calendar year 2006 the company had net sales of 15.1 billion Yen (USD129 million). The acquisition will be finialised via a series of steps, although terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
