MRKet trade show concludes successful run
30 Jan. 2014
Show report: MRKET NYHeld in the North Concourse, a new area of its home at the Javits Center, the January 2014 edition of the MRKet trade show concluded a successful three-day run on Tuesday. Although it was held several days later than the other NYC menswear trade shows due to a space-scheduling conflict, exhibitors at the show said they still did good business overall. Bill Thomas of the line Bills Khakis and its new younger-targeted sub-collection Bills Khakis Tea Label said, “The show has been great for us but we had appointments set up. I think that some of the brands that rely on walk-by business may have felt it was slower because the show was so late this season.”
On the main floor, traditional preppy looks were celebrated by such brands as Vineyard Vines and Southern Tide while English-inspired outdoorsy ones were on display at brands such as Barbour. In total, more than 325 brands exhibited at MRket.
Stylist Michael Macko again curated a mannequin display of the best looks of the show. This edition’s Alpine-themed “Macko’s Picks” was especially whimsical since every mannequin had the head of a forest creature. The next edition of MRket takes place in Las Vegas February 17-19.
