Show Preview: Munich Fabric StartThe specialist fabric trade show Munich Fabric Start, to be held in Munich between 3 and 5 September 2013 is getting ready for kick-off. With a new attendance record of 950 international exhibitors, the show will present the latest developments and innovations in fabrics and accessories for Fall/Winter 2014/2015. The show's portfolio has increased its exhibitors by 10% on last year’s edition. The show has over 40,000sqm of exhibition space and is expected to host the arrival of approximately 20,000 international trade visitors.
The event's main theme is “AWESEMBLAGE", a neologism derived from “AWEsome” and “asSEMBLAGE” and is aimed to convey an awe-inspiring, impressive and vast diversity of themes and trends, a wealth of silhouettes, clashing extremes and multi-faceted technical fabrics.
Among first-time exhibitors is the Marzotto Group with brands such as Marlane, Guabello, Tailla di Delfino, Ratti, Tessitura Monti and others. This selection further enhances the high-quality portfolio of outer fabrics for the menswear segment.
Also debuting will be the Mare di Moda section presenting a group of approximately 20 high-quality manufacturers of Italian beachwear and underwear materials. A special area in Hall 4 will be set aside for companies such as Clerici Tessuto, Miroglio, Ritex, Bellieni and others to present their beachwear and underwear fabrics and accessories.
The BlueZone will be also disclosing some interesting and inspiring novelties. This section of the show is fully booked, registering over 65 international denim weaving mills, finishers and launderers, thus confirming the continued upward interest in the denim segment.
The Zenith Hall will host the key players of the denim community. The main theme will be "PSY.CHIC PUNK", a punk rebellion, angry, extreme looks that are aggressive in spirit and exaggerated in expression. Heavy, rock’n’roll biker elements such as big zippers and perfecto jackets are combined with dark heavy metal motifs in basic colours with transparent and macro-prints. Slim‘n'stretch continues to play a key role in silhouettes. Various denim types are being carefully combined; raw with vintage, raw with raw or used with used.
TRC Candiani will participate in the show, while celebrating their 75th company anniversary, alongside Isko, Orta, Royo, Lanificio Europa and Calik. Several first-time exhibitors will be on site, including Itochu Denim Group, Turteks, Chuck’s Vintage and Label Mark. For the first time, a number of accessories manufacturers will complement the denim product range and complete the comprehensive sourcing process with their denim-specific accessories.
Another new creative dimension will open up right in the centre of the BlueZone - Cube X. Developed in collaboration with the show's denim consultant Piero Turk, the new area is an inspirational think tank presenting denim inspirations from around the world – from the roots of denim to the perfect presentation of the finished denim product. "We’re proud that we can use this format to offer such a wide variety of inspiring sources to the denim community,” says Munich Fabric Start managing director Sebastian Klinder.
The Cube X section will host; Chuck’s Vintage concept store, the iconic vintage store based in L.A., which sells rare, highly coveted, vintage denims: The store is a No. 1 destination for designers and stylists. Photography and collages by photographer Farhad Samani, a selection of washings developed by Italian launderer Blue Jeans Lavanderie and a collection of rare fashion and design publications courtesy of Soda Books, the Munich based specialist book store, will complete Cube X. The Cube X area will also host a design lesson entitled “The Creativity Process” by Liam Maher, Design Director of Denham the Jeanmaker Amsterdam, on Wednesday 4 September at 12.00 noon.
Also new will be the online debut of the complete spectrum of services offered by Organic Selection. Over 500 certified eco fabrics and sustainable innovations from international manufacturers will be available inside the show and online. In addition, 100 certified accessories will be highlighted that meet the requirements for a sustainable “clean” product in accordance with the trade shows standards.
As well as the Organic Selection of denim and sportswear fabrics displayed at BlueZone, the Greenzone will also feature six selected denims from various producers, all of which have been treated with a sustainable finish by Jeanologia.
The Eco Summit will be held once again and will deal with a hot industry topic. Entitled “Social compliance in a global textile chain,” it will take place at the Trends seminar from 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm on Wednesday 4 September.
