SWAROVSKI WORKSHOP DRAWS TOP NAMESIn a workshop in Milan’s hip NHow Hotel on May 15 Austrian company Swarovski (swarovski.com) showed its Italian clients that use Swarovski stones for their denim-lines — including Fendi, Versace, Bluemarine and Fornarina — how to apply the crystals onto textiles.
Although specialized companies generally do these applications, the designers of the big Italian labels learned how to work with stones, buttons and thermo-adhesive materials in the workshop.
The glittery highlights of s/s 2008 by Crystallized Swarovski Elements (pictured) are inspired by water, sand and fire. The seasonal collection includes crystal yarns, stones in matte colors such as mint alabaster, rose water opal, dark red coral and Caribbean blue opal, and multi-sparkling stones in pink and white.
