SHOW REVIEW: BREAD & BUTTER HOLDS INTERNATIONAL ANNIVERSARY EDITION

Bread & Butter has closed its doors again and can look back to three days of crowded halls, an international audience, hot temperatures and lots of parties and thus met the expectations for the tradeshow’s ‘superparty’ celebrating its 10th anniversary. True to its slogan "Bread & Butter Supershow", the tradeshow registered its strongest visitors rate since the return of Bread & Butter to Berlin. Almost 60% foreign trade visitors from about 100 countries guarantee the consistent high international level at Bread & Butter. Noticeable were especially stronger visitor numbers from Benelux, Scandinavia, Great Britain, Austria and Switzerland. But also visitor numbers of Eastern European countries including Russia have increased, according to organizers. Trade visitors from North America were represented strongly as usual at the tradeshow.

After the opening party on Tuesday night with great live acts, beautiful summer weather and a festival-like atmosphere in the Sport & Street Desert Land, the tradeshow officially opened its doors on Wednesday morning at 10am with visitor crowds already waiting to enter. In general, exhibitors seemed very satisfied and praised especially the international audience. Gitte Skaarup of Selected said: „The fair seems more international to us – we’ve got lots of clients from Italy, Scandinavia, Spain and even Australia. We also exhibit at Modefabriek in Amsterdam or Terminal 2 in Copenhagen, but Bread & Butter is the most international fair for us. We meet many existing customers but also new accounts“.

Moreover, many retailers could be seen on the fairground. “We meet many clients here and also notice that retailers after a longer period of absence have come to Berlin for the 10th anniversary of Bread & Butter,” comments Bernd Waage, Select Trading GmbH, who is responsible for the distribution of Tiger of Sweden. According to Florian Ranft of Komet & Helden, the L.O.C.K Area has further developed and now also attracts many retailers of premium fashion and new visitors. “The supplement of labels such as Nudie Jeans or Denham matches very well and is rounded off by smaller labels.”

Regarding the opening party where 10,000 people living in Berlin were invited, Karl-Heinz Müller stated: "The great Bread & Butter opening party on Tuesday evening was an immense success! It was a very good decision to invite the public to the evening events - we will continue this concept. Next summer we will even top this".

The winter edition of Bread & Butter is scheduled to take place from January 18-20, 2012; the summer edition is scheduled to run from July 4-6, 2012.
