SHOW REPORT: I.L.M OFFENBACHDuring International Leather Goods Fair (I.L.M) in Offenbach/Main which ran from Sep. 24-26, 2011, almost 250 exhibitors from 16 different countries presented their collections for spring/summer 2012 on a space of about 11,800sqm. Numerous international brands of lifestyle and design showed their bag and accessory collections. With 5,800 trade visitors from 44 countries, I.L.M Summer Styles -which for the first time took place on three days- slightly exceeded the high target of the March edition and thus met all expectations according to organizers.
Besides the typical summer items of flowers, ornaments etc., there were a few trends for bags spotted which seem to dominate next spring/summer season. Strong neon colors in green, blue, pink, orange and yellow were seen in many collections. In contrast, shapes were rather clean and pure often available in a robust leather variant. Apart from the trend for bright colors, smooth pastel shades were popular for vintage-looking bags, some looking like kitbags, some like vintage school bags. Moreover, special details like press cuts and animal prints decorated some bag styles. Especially the vintage/authentic trend, which symbolizes the “back to the roots” atmosphere in the fashion industry, seems to be dominating next spring/summer season when it comes to bags and leather accessories.
The next edition of I.L.M will take place March 10-12, 2012.
