SHOW PREVIEW: COPENHAGEN FASHION FAIRSThese days, Copenhagen will be host to Northern Europe’s largest fashion event, Copenhagen Fashion Week (August 3-7). Simultaneously, the four tradeshows CPH Vision, Terminal-2, Gallery and Copenhagen International Fashion Fair (CIFF) are running where visitors can find an additional 1,100 exhibitors showing more than 2,300 international brand name collections. 60,000 buyers, designers and global press are expected to come to Copenhagen and watch Danish talents showing their upcoming collections on the catwalks in the city.
For the 37 edition of the fashion fair, CIFF will feature a wide range of initiatives and events designed to optimize the results at the fair. In the men’s section in B2 and B3, for instance, there will be a barbershop where men can get a free old-fashioned shave, play pool, read men’s magazines and see the latest in men’s fashion. Moreover, there will be a new team behind CIFF Kids: project leader Bettina Randazzo and consultant Eva Kathrine Skytte will assist Exhibition Director, Bolette Hvalsoe, with the task of continually developing the CIFF Kids concept. “A new and creative approach is required, and we already have good ideas on the drawing board,” says Bettina Randazzo. “Our ambition is to elevate CIFF Kids to a high international level, so the fair once again enjoys a position in the league of Europe’s leading children’s fairs.”
Gallery will feature 260 exhibitors and ten shows from promising designers from Scandinavia at the Royal Danish Academy of Music right next to Forum. Within CPH Vision, the professional and international platform for Nordic design graduates, Designers’ Nest Show and Award will take place again on Friday, August 5, at 3pm in the raw surroundings of Building 55, near CPH Vision Fashion Fair in Oeksnehallen. Magnus Löppe, winner of the February 2011 edition, is already scheduled for a solo show during the current Copenhagen Fashion Week s/s 2012.
The opening times for CIFF and CIFF Kids are Thursday to Sunday from 9am to 6pm, and CPH Vision, Terminal-2 and Gallery are open Thursday to Saturday from 9am to 7pm.
