PITTI IMMAGINE WITH SEVERAL NEW INITIATIVES IN JANUARY

Pitti Uomo has announced numerous events taking place within its next edition from Jan. 10-13, 2012, presenting first trends for f/w 2012/13.

The Florence-based show registers an annual turnover of €32 million and within the January edition will host 950 brands (330 from foreign markets) plus 70 women’s collections on a total space of 59,000sqm. Organizers expect over 30,000 visitors including 23,100 buyers, of which 7,700 came from foreign countries in January 2011.

Special guest will be Valentino (see our related news) presenting the designer brand’s men’s collection catwalk show as an absolute premiere. Guest designer of Pitti Immagine W, womenswear salon, will be Olympia Le-Tan, a former collaborator of Karl Lagerfeld and Balmain, who will present her unique accessory collection made out of book covers. Pitti Uomo Special Project is the Hardy Amies AW12 show. Hardy Amies is the official designer of Queen Elisabeth and an established couturier from Savile Row, London.

Other initiatives will include “It’s Graphics now!”, a tribute to visual communication involving 14 young graphic designers who will interpret the impact of future style evolution by designing special logos. "We think that today graphic designers can best express a modern ability to discover new trends," commented Agostino Poletto, Vice General Manager Pitti Immagine.

A new project dedicated to Japanese designers organized in collaboration with Japan Fashion Week “Tokyo Fashion Week in Italy - Versus Tokyo” will be presented inside the Fortezza, in the Lyceum area as a tribute to a highly creative and high-quality fashion-sensitive country. Some of the brands involved are Mastermind Japan, Facetasm, Phenomenon and Sunsea. In addition, a Japanese-style party will be hosted to celebrate their presence in Florence.

“Make" is a new exhibition area dedicated to handcrafted products though reinvented according to a modern and cosmopolitan spirit. “La fabbrica lenta di Bonotto” will present own fabric developments by Bonotto, Italian high-quality wool fabric manufacturer, who employed old restored weaving machines for creating newly reinvented wool textiles.

My Factory, also hosted inside the Lyceum, will present urban and sportswear innovative collections including, for instance, Jack Flynn, Panama Route, Piola, Resho, Skive, Dbsw and Hudson.

The Costruzioni Lorenesi area will host two Italian sportswear groups: FGF Industries and Tomasoni Topsail. Enzo Fusco's FGF will gather all of the company's brands like Blauer, C.P. Company and BPD. Tomasoni will present its brands North Sails and Henri LLoyd.

Some brands will have their comeback in Florence such as Pepe Jeans London, Napapijri and Chevignon presenting its new Heritage collection designed by Milan Vukmirovic (see our related news). Graziano Gianelli, once involved in the company by producing brands like Geo Spirit and Kejo, will launch his own brand Up To Be.
