PHILIPP PLEIN OPENS FIRST STORE IN MONTE CARLO

German designer Philipp Plein will open his first freestanding store in Monaco on August 22. The unique shop design combines the clear and minimalistic elegance of Philipp Plein furniture with the luxurious attitude of his fashion collection.

The shop is based at a prime location in the city center of Monte Carlo inside the exclusive “Le Métropole.” The more than 100-sq.-meter shop, with a 20-meter long shopping window, offers customers the full range of the brand, beginning with the first line Philipp Plein Couture; a luxurious collection including shoes and bags all made in Italy; the wild and sexy Fetish line; and the casual collegewear Classic collection. Custom-made Philipp Plein furniture, rich materials and a sharp finish contribute to a one-of-a-kind shopping experience.

Unique to the interior is its color scheme: the entire shop is white. Showcases and boards are covered with white crocodile print leather skins, while artful detail solutions are combined with Philipp Plein furniture, white-colored leather in front of a mirrored wall, huge light installations, and plenty of glass to give the whole shop a clear, minimalistic appearance.

A one-meter high contemporary art installation, the highlight of the shop, will be a recurring fixture in future Philipp Plein monobrand stores and unveiled for the first time to the public at the opening. A crystal skull about 1.5m below ground in the entrance area of the shop symbolizes victory over death and the celebration of life. More than 60,000 Swarovksi crystals were applied to the object by the hands of a Swiss artist.

The company has announced additional monobrand shop projects for next year in St. Tropez and Austria.

In the meantime, Saturday’s opening promises to be a major event accompanied by an exclusive after-party at the legendary Jimmy’Z club.
