PHILIPP PLEIN BOWS IN MOSCOWPhilipp Plein has opened its first monobrand boutique in Moscow’s Nikolskaya street, a new hotspot for the international jet set.
This is the fourth monobrand store to open worldwide after Dubai, Monte Carlo and Vienna.
The shop is based in one of the prime locations in the city center of Moscow, near Tretiakovsky proezd, just around the corner from the Kremlin and Bolshoi Theater. The approximately 200-sq.-meter store offers the complete range of Philipp Plein products including the first line Philipp Plein Couture, a luxury collection including shoes and bags all made in Italy, the more wild and sexy Fetish line, and the new line for men called Philipp Plein Homme.
Custom-made Philipp Plein furniture, exquisite materials and sharp surfaces provide visitors a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Shoes and bags are showcased in a specially designed area, operating also as window displays. Immediately, upon entering, the customer himself plays a part in the interior design and becomes a living window installation. Characteristic of the interior design is its color — the entire shop is white. All showcases and boards are covered with white crocodile print leather skin. Artful details in combination with the furniture collection, white leather in front of a mirrored wall, huge light installations, and storewide glass give the entire space a clean, minimalist appearance. Two huge chandeliers handcrafted by Murano glass blowers complete the sophisticated interior.
At the same time, a one-meter high contemporary art installation functions as a highlight of the shop, and will feature in all future Philipp Plein monobrand stores. A crystal skull about 1.5m below ground in the entrance area of the shop symbolizes victory over death and the celebration of life. More than 60,000 Swarovksi crystals were applied to the object by the hands of a Swiss artist.
Philippe Plein began his career by designing furniture for his family and friends. In 1998 he founded his own company in Munich, Germany. In 2004 his company struck a new path and launched its first fashion collection. In 2006 the designer debuted his striking jewelry collection, with innovative products such as the world’s first patented watch tag. In 2008 the company launched the Philipp Plein Couture Collection, with an exclusive campaign featuring supermodels Naomi Campbell and Marcus Schenkenberg. In 2009 Plein launched a complete collection of Italian made shoes and bags.
Today Philippe Plein is sold to the best stores worldwide in over 60 countries. Philip Kirkorov, Dima Bilan, David and Victoria Beckham, Naomi Campbell, Heidi Klum, Marcus Schenkenberg and Pussycat dolls are all loyal fans of the brand.
