OAKLEY & VESTAL SEEK NEW GROWTH WITH NEW OFFICES

Two US-based fashion companies known for their hip accessories, Oakley and Vestal, have announced the opening of new offices to further expand their sales growth.

Oakley Inc. (www.oakley.com), based in Foothill Ranch, California, said last week that it will open a product showroom in New York City’s trendy SoHo neighborhood in the third quarter of 2004. The showroom, located at 480 Broadway between Grand and Broome Streets, will coincide with the release of the active brand’s s/s 2005 footwear and apparel lines, which are also being showcased this month at WSA and MAGIC.

Oakley, founded in 1975, is known especially for its cool, cutting-edge sunglasses. However, the brand, which is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange, also offers men’s and women’s apparel, footwear and accessories. Oakley’s 12-month revenues through June 30, 2004 were $545.7 million. Oakley products are sold in more than 100 countries.

Meanwhile, Vestal (www.vestalwatch.com), a 6-year-old brand based in Costa Mesa, California that is known for its funky, alternative wristwatches, has just announced the opening of Vestal Europe, its new European headquarters in Biarritz, France. Headed by Alex Messmer, Vestal Europe will centralize the company’s European operations and set the stage for the brand’s continued global expansion.

At present, Vestal has partnerships in Canada, Japan, Australia, the UK, Germany, Austria, Benelux, Switzerland, Greece, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and South Africa.

Vestal, which claims triple-digit growth in the last year, is independently owned and operated. David Vonaventura is the company’s founder and president.
