Nike Flyknit Collective Program
16 Apr. 2012
NIKE FLYKNIT COLLECTIVE FOR MILAN DESIGN WEEKNike is launching a series of cultural and lifestyle initiatives aimed at involving the Milanese and international young creative personalities visiting the city during Milan Design Week, taking place between April 16-22.
Nike Flyknit is a new ultralight sustainable performance running sneaker, the upper part of which is created out of precisely engineered yarns and can be manufactured by virtually eliminating waste since it is sewn with a single unique sewing thread. While launching the second Nike Flyknit collection in Milan, the brand asked designer Odoardo Fioravanti to conceive a project inspired by Nike's design innovation, which would be presented at Milan's Nike Stadium flagship store at Foro Buonaparte 50. A selection of the city's young creative minds have also been called upon to participate in special workshops led by the Flyknit project leaders and Nike designers and based on creating special apparel and footwear projects according to the criteria of lightness, sustainability and fit. A chosen few of these designers will have access to a workshop where they will get a chance to create a project with Odoardo Fioravanti and Nike for the running community.
