NEXT OUTDOOR SHOW TO DRAW HIGHER TRAFFIC, INNOVATION

The world's leading outdoor trade show Outdoor, in Friedrichshafen, Germany, has announced several key developments concerning its next edition from July 15-18, 2010

"The international character and number of exhibitors have never been greater than at Outdoor 2010," said Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Klaus Wellmann, referring to the 6% increase in the number of exhibitors at the show that is enjoying growing popularity amongst a large number of market players from Asia and America. In all, the event is expected to draw 860 exhibitors from 39 countries to Lake Constance.

This year the focus of the trade fair will once again be on product debuts. International companies representing over 1,000 brands will premiere newly developed products - in most cases exclusively at Outdoor. Nearly all members of the European Outdoor Group (EOG) will be present at Friedrichshafen. "Outdoor is the world's leading outdoor trade fair and we have every reason to be proud of it," said EOG President David Udberg in the run-up to the 17th edition of the trade fair.

Outdoor also is more than just an opportunity for exhibitors at Friedrichshafen to meet large numbers of retailers and sales partners. Over 900 journalists are expected to attend the exhibition at Lake Constance and spread the news about the largest outdoor trade show to audiences around the world.

This year's key theme of "Fundamental Needs" will show how the industry can benefit more effectively from the outdoor boom and offer research into the motivations for outdoor activities. Accordingly, the conference program has gained significant importance at Outdoor 2010. "We have designed the Outdoor conferences to give our guests an opportunity to start their day at the trade fair with a stimulating program of presentations. At 8:30 every morning, before the trade show officially opens, we offer an intriguing mixture of interactions, continuing education, news and trends," said Outdoor Project Manager Stefan Reisinger. All presentations will take place in the new East Conference Center. The program topics include social media relations; bluesign; standards and regulations; the launch of the new Eco Index by the European Outdoor Group’s Sustainability Working Group; hiking - a market with a bright future; the outdoor and women's markets; a presentation of the EOG Association for Conservation’s funded projects; IDEAS order info on outdoor clothing trends; the challenge of climate change; and the transition from a traditional to high-tech outdoor world.

This year the Outdoor Tent City will be set up for the first time in Rothaus Hall A1, with its 10,000-sq.-meter light-filled exhibition space. International major players will present their product debuts in the two new exhibition halls, A7 and B5. The move will provide brands with more booth space and strengthen OutDoor's reputation as the leading trade fair with short and convenient walking distances. All in all, this year's event will cover a total of 85,000 square meters of exhibition space.

Progress has also been made in the exhibition’s infrastructure. The newly built northern exhibition grounds road was opened to traffic in December 2009, allowing for smoother arrivals and departures for all guests coming from Ulm and Ravensburg and

direct access to the new eastern parking areas 1 and 2 and the new East Entrance.
