NEW YORKER BOOSTS STORE COUNT

German retailer New Yorker is pushing forward its international expansion in 2010 after opening 100 stores and entering Italy and Portugal last year. With the goal of becoming Europe’s leading youth fashion retailer, this year New Yorker kicked off its expansion with the simultaneous opening of four stores in three countries on Feb. 24. With new stores in Leverkusen and Hamburg in Germany, St. Brieuc in France, and Urtenen-Schönbühl in Switzerland, the company now operates 756 stores in 27 countries. According to the Braunschweig-based retailer, further store openings are in the pipeline with a focus on prime locations which offer a huge sales floor and an interesting mix of retailers.
